Resolutions You Can Stick With

Image
Here are some New Years Resolutions which are the easiest to stick to, with the help of todays technology! I remember watching the Jetsons and wondering what the world would be like in the future. We may not have flying cars, but we're living high when it comes to services and mobile tech. Looking forward to a new year! Here are some ways to make year 2019  "simply" better. Saving Money There's an app for that! You can easily accomplish this by trying a savings app. The two that I enjoy using are Acorn and Robinhood . Acorn is by far the easiest, but both have their uses. You just set up a monthly savings amount and it automatically withdraws (on the day of your choosing) from your checking into your account. They also have a round up feature that will round up the money you spend from your bank account to the nearest dollar. So when you spend $20.90 they will round up to $21 and .10 will be counted towards your acorns account. Once you have $5 total it...

Story Time! The Worst dates I have been on.

Image
I'm so lucky to be happily married, but that didn't come easily! Like a lot of us, I  had to meet a bunch of frogs before I found my prince. Thought I would give you a few stories about the losers. And if you're single, don't worry, all of your married friends had their share of bad dates. So get yourself a beverage, adult if you're feeling saucy, and let's get to it! I'm not using names to protect the not so innocent but if you remember who these people are please don't say their names. This has been forever ago and is just for laughs. These are in no particular order. I know my husband is going to love reading these because it makes him look like a hero. The You Want to Watch a "Movie" I think you can tell from the title where this one is going. He invited me to what I thought was a movie date. He picked a date and time and said he would come to my dorm room. Now I know what you're thinking, Jess you should know what that meant. ...

Confessions of a Boss: What it really feels like to be in charge

Image
I would like to give you my honest opinion of what it feels like to be head cheese. My husband and I currently own our own restaurant and we're responsible for over 100 employees. When I was first starting out in the business world, I knew that I wanted to be in charge. Once I was, things were going to be different. Here are some fun truths about being the boss. What does it feel like to have the power? It feels like Spiderman without all the fun swinging. You feel a great sense of responsibility because you have many people that count on you to make the right decisions. Is firing fun? Nope, it's easily the worst part of the job. Though "Trump" turned it into a show, it's far from it. Because no mater how many times you say business is business and you need to separate your emotions, these are real people. You know that this is a major event that will change their life. Amazing social calendar? When you are the one in charge most of the time you d...

Holiday Decorating Tips

Image
I just love home decor. I would like to share with you some of my tricks and pieces I'm currently loving.  If you've noticed from my instagram, I have been sharing some of my holiday designs and you seem to really enjoy them. Today, I'll go in to detail on how I like to decorate for the holidays and I hope to give you some inspiration below. Simple is more Instead of going for a busy display, I tend to like simple and chic holiday decorations.  Sometimes when there's too much going on with your decor, you don't quite know what to look at.  I love going with a similar color scheme with my decor. As you see above, here are some cute pieces I picked up at TJ Maxx . I love the color blue and it goes with the colors I have in my home. Outdoor lights made easy Living where we do, we tend to get high winds and so much snow! That can really take a hit on many an outdoor displays. We've tried stringing up lights, but but then it would be power cord city ...

Buy Designer Handbags on the Cheap and be Chic.

Image
These are my tips and tricks for getting a designer handbag for a fraction of the original retail. You can get a real designer bag without the designer price tag. Tip #1: Buying second hand The first tip for scoring a great price on a designer bag is you have to buy it used. Handbags are just like cars, they depreciate once you take them out. So get one that has a few scratches and imperfections. It's going to happen anyway so why not get 70% off. Tip #2: Buying vintage There are a lot of designers that have been making the same bag for over 20 years. Chances are you'll be able to find them for a lot cheaper and made with better quality material.  For example, I'm on the hunt for a vintage Chanel flap from the 90's because they were made with real gold plated hardware. Now, they're not made with that and they are thousands and thousands of dollars more. I currently have two vintage Louis Vuittons and one newer from 2016. I can notice a big difference wh...
