10 habits of successful people. That you should do too!
Here are some habits that I've been doing this year and they seem to be helping. I'm not saying they lead to instant success, they are keeping me on track and I see success in my future. I'm not feeling the self doubt that normally happens when I start or try something completely out of my comfort zone. Like this blog and starting my own reselling business, which is something I've always wanted to do. I would always say to myself: you have no idea how to build a business from scratch! However, by applying these habits I've slowly began accomplishing goals and making dreams a reality.
1. They write their goals down.
When you look at your goals and take the time to put them to paper, they seem more real and more attainable than when they are still in your head. Plus, it feels good to give your eyes a break from pinterest that consumes most of your free time. Or is this just me? Sometime it gives me too many ideas.
2. They put a plan into place.
This is the part that was the hardest for me and why it took me forever to start. Finally I made a goal of mine to start my blog at the first of the year and start selling products on Poshmark (use my code shestheposh for $5 off your first purchase). I also committed to one blogpost a week and two instagram post a day. This gave me a schedule and helped me with consistency.
3. They adapt to change.
You are constantly learning and working when you start your own brand and business. So the 6am and 9pm wrapping up of packages to go out has become a new norm. I'm competing with Amazon and the instant world we live in. I also have to remember to take some pictures everyday of what I am wearing, and started out feeling so awkward and now it is just something I do. You kind of just have to roll with the punches.
4. They never stop learning
I'm always reading or checking out blogs of those people who have come before me. There was one Influencer who inspired me the most, Emma Hill . She created videos that were almost a step by step instructions on branding and how to use social media, plus the importance of being authentic.
5. They acknowledge their failure
There are many times where I felt like a flop. There will be blog posts that no one is reading or items I've lost money on. Instead of letting that self-doubt talk set in, I treat it as a learning experience. Now I know what not to sell and what writing people just don't care for. No one is perfect unless your name is Beyonce.
6. They aren't afraid to ask for help.
If my 2 year old son is not afraid to ask me for help when he is struggling I can't be. Building an online community, I've met fellow sellers on Poshmark that have helped me over a hurtle. Even my husband just helped me with establishing a code on my site to get me approved for ads. Doing it all on your own can just get too frustrating. We could all use an umbrella on a rainy day.
7. They set obtainable goals.
Seriously this part was a life saver. I started with small goals. For example on Jan 1st of this year my goal was just to start a blog. I went on to a free sight and just started. Since then I have accomplished a bunch of small goals this year alone. Now approaching the new year, I have a site that I own the name of and I have made $3,000 selling items on my selling apps. Last year at this time I had no site and also only made a few sales on Poshmark.
8. They listen to others who have come before them.
There are people out there that have already tried or are currently doing what you're doing. Why not reach out? I love checking out YouTube channels dedicated to advice on the project I'm working on. We're never going to be great at everything. There is a reason Michael Jordan never became a baseball all-star but man can he make a shoe. Oh and also Basketball and stuff.
9. They teach others how they did it.
The world wide web has made it so easy to get connected to others that are working on the same projects as you. I have met some amazing woman that have given me such great advice. One of these woman I follow on instagram took the time to look at my reselling site and gave me some great ideas to make me more searchable. Just when you think the world sucks lemons you realize there is so much lemonade out there!
10. They are grateful.
Think about what happens every time celebrities are given an award? Have you ever heard a speech that start out with"I want to thank myself for all of the work I did completely on my own." No, they are constantly thanking people that helped get them to where they are today. Never forget where you started and the path that you have been on. Chances are there have been people around you that have lit your road when you were having trouble seeing in the dark.
Success is not luck. It's when hard work meets opportunity. Take time after reading this to put pen to paper something you've been wanting to accomplish. Use these tips and create the reality you seek. Time is short, so spend it wisely and you could get a big return on your investment. Please feel free to comment below. I would love to hear from you. What have you always dreamed of doing?
