What you need to get your summer on fleek

Summer Summer Summer Time! Time to sit back and unwind. That's right people, summer is here! I can't believe we've made it. Winter was like an ex that just would not give up! Restraining order! Now that the warm weather is finally here, I have a list of things you need to get your summer on fleek.

Outdoor space

In order to enjoy summer, you need to actually go outside and take in the warm weather. I am so lucky to have a front porch and a back patio. I'm always outside with my son and dogs. The key to a great outdoor space is to make it comfortable and a fun place to be. I have two cabanas that not only provide much needed shade on hot days, but also convert into a day bed for those summer naps. The coffee table is also a fire pit! Did someone say s'mores? One of my favorite summer activities, besides s'mores, is stargazing. Just a blanket and a toasty fire is all you need. Seriously, stars are cool.

A garden

Audrey Hepburn said "To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow." I can't tell you how satisfying it is to see the fruits of your labor literally! We not only have beautiful flowers but a small vegetable hanging garden. We just picked our first zucchini of the season. My husband says we are like farmers now! Potted plants and indoor gardens are perfect for apartments. Nature is just so beautiful! You may find yourself becoming a crazy plant lady! #italktomyplants

A good swimsuit and coverup

Now I know this is not our favorite thing to shop for but it's much needed for summer. There are going to be times when this attire is necessary! Some clothing just doesn't look good wet and you don't want to have yourself entered into your own wet T-shirt contest. I have found some great suits that are not too pricy and also cute covers ups. I have linked similar items below. My favorite cover up is a kimono. I always feel so chic and put together, especially when I pair it with large sunnies and a red lip!

A Summer tote/ bottomless pit

This is a much needed accessory for any summer outing. You need your sunscreen, water, blankets, towels, bathing suits, trucks, racing cars, the good juice, diapers, hats, change of clothes, and snacks. You totally need a lot of things for a chic summer outing. I love totes because I can have everything I need and look cute in the process. You can usually find them for cheap and there are so many cute choices out there! Cute and practical, tote for the win ever time.

Fundays

This doesn't have to be somewhere fancy or even overnight. Summer is always the time for festivals, car shows and fairs. Just google some that are within drivings distance. You may even have some exciting events in your own area. Have these days marked on the calendar and also let each family member pick one to go to. My sister just had a food truck festival in her area!! Yum yum! Summer is always the best time to find fun activities to go to and they all have amazing food to go with it! #ionlyworkoutsoicaneat

My favorite part about summer has always been my birthday. Having a summer birthday meant pool parties and beach vacations! Now it means even more because I now share it with my son. That is right my son was born on my birthday!

 Summer to me always feels cut short because it flies by while the other seasons seem to linger. It also doesn't help that stores put out their halloween decorations in July! I just want to stand up on a chair and say "you can't take away our summer!" And I refuse to even think about carving pumpkins or drinking hot apple sider yet, even though I love those activities. So pass me a frozen cocktail and my SPF 50 cause it's summer time and it is going to be on fleek.
