Summer is Fun! Here is what we forgot.

Now I know this is hard but I want you look back, way back. I mean it may be a little more for you people than for me. My internal age is 11, obviously. But try to remember when you were a kid in the summer and  how it was the most awesome thing ever! No school. No responsibilities. Just none stop fun. Now, we're all like "it's too hot and humid,"  "my electric bill is soooo high," and "are you trying to air condition the whole neighborhood?" Close the door. Come on people, let's embrace the heat and have fun with our little ones this summer. Here are some activities my son Jax and the fam are going to enjoy this summer

Baby Pool

This is a must. You'll find me most hot days poolside with my 22 month old. He just loves splashing and going in and out of his little pool. Getting wet on a hot day is always a fun time. Now I recommend dressing appropriately for the splash zone because you will get wet on this ride.  But to be completely honest, I love it too! It's actually really refreshing sticking your feet in the pool. When your little one takes a nap, it's adult swim! Lots of fun for your little one and relaxing time for you. Win Win Win.

Sand table

I say this is a must for summer fun. My son plays in it for hours in. Since this is a standing table, there is no fuss or worry about it being a litter box for all the stray cats in our neighbor hood. It doesn't take up a lot of space and it's easy to clean up with a simple covering of the lid. And if you're lucky, you'll get your feet buried and the cool sand feels great on tired tootsies.

Chalk

My son is learning his colors and letters and thick chalk has been a hit with him. We draw and write letters. Sure some of the patio furniture receives a little color but that's what rain is for. It was fun when we were kids and it's still fun now for sure. So go make some sidewalk art.

Pop up Play House

This is perfect for indoor rainy days as well as outside. We love to bring ours on vacation. It's easy to put up and you can keep toys in it as well. Folding it will feel like an IQ test until you get the hang of it. You have to twist and fold and then put your foot on it. Or is it foot, fold, and twist? All I know is that my son loves it and we can easily store it and bring it with us for fun inside and out.

Playing in Mud and Dirt

There's something about playing in the dirt and mud. I'm still doing it, only this time I'm planting a garden. My son helps water our plants (as well as the sidewalk and himself).  Planting a garden and watching it grow and transform, is always magical no matter the age. I'm always showing my son flowers and we talk about how the trees give us cool shade on these hot days.

Laying in the grass

Look, I know there are bugs and I'm trying not to think about that as I write this but of course I just did and now you're thinking about it too. My bad, but it really is awesome just laying or siting in the grass and looking up. My sons favorite thing to do is look for birds and planes. There is nothing quite like doing nothing.

For me the best thing about summer is seeing it through my Son's eyes. Everything is magical, living in the moment, and there's always something new to learn and endless fun. Roll down a hill or drink water straight from a hose. It's ok you can enjoy summer. It'll be our little secret. #getyourchictogether
