The Lazy Girl's Guide to Beauty and Fashion

These are items, services, and beauty routines that don't take a lot of time or effort. Now I'm no expert and I like to call myself a lazy beauty person. In high school, my nickname was the "pretty bum," I took that as a complement. Meaning I don't like to spend a lot of time getting ready but I also like to look good. Also, I now have a 20 month old so time is limited. I have divided this up for you into different categories . I will also have links to products that I use so you will be able to check them out if you are interested. Hope you enjoy and have a few laughs as well.

Hair
Lets start with what I do for my long sometimes untamed locks.

Hair Styling Tips

Tip one: get the Revlon one Step hair Dryer. This is a game changer. I have long, thick hair and it takes forever to dry. If I'm being completely honest most of the time I don't dry it all the way and just scrunch it.  I just don't have the time to fuss with it for an hour. Plus my arms gets tired holding the brush and the dryer. I know I do yoga but my arms only stretch so far. This dries your hair so fast and also gives you a nice blow out without all the arm juggling. So this girl is stepping up her hair game and getting a real housewife look.

Tip Two: Don't wash your hair everyday. This is better for your hair and saves you time getting ready since you don't have to blow dry it each day. Dry shampoo will be your new best friend. Plus, you use less products and save more money.

Tip Three: Wash your hair properly. This will help your hair not be flat or too oily and even have more volume. You want to wash you hair at the root and not put your hair on top of your head. The scalp is what needs washed not the ends. Work the shampoo down and rinse thoroughly so you will not develop buildup. Place your conditioner starting with the ends and work up avoiding the scalp. This will be a game changer for your hair and you should notice the difference right away.

Skin
Face right after a salt facial! Look at that glow!

Now this you need in the budget because taking care of your skin should be a bigger priority than your hair. You hair is dead and your skin is the largest organ of the body. These are just facts people.

Tip One: Facials/ light peels. I get these professionally done and just started this passed year and the difference is amazing. My friends are starting to notice and are making my day. Shout out to my girl Tina who said  to me "you look really young today." For some reason I kept this a secret because I thought it was something to be ashamed of. I know facials are not for every budget, but you can get similar affects with over the counter products. I use a face scrub twice a week and make sure to not skimp on the products in the price department.  Make sure you are using ones meant for your skin type. I buy ones that specialize in sensitive skin. Basically you want to make sure you are exfoliating your skin as well as moisturizing. But seriously getting a facial should be just up there with getting your hair done. There is no product that can replace a professional.

Tip Two: Use a moisturizer ever day on your entire body, not just your face. Also make sure to use face moisturizers with SPF. Just put this on before your primer or foundation. No matter the time of year because skin cancer is no joke. It also doesn't discriminate no mater whether you tan or burn. Okay, mom speech done. But seriously, just do it.

Tip Three: Skip the body wash and use a more natural bar soap. For me Body washes have a tendency to dry out my skin especially in the winter. I use to get eczema on my legs and hands every winter. Since using Zum Bar body soap this winter I am happy to report that I am eczema free. I also used their Zum Rub multi-purpose skin oil the whole time I was pregnant and I have zero stretch marks. I know you kinda hate me a little. I totally get it but I am telling you this line is amazing. Healthy, glowing skin looks great on everyone.

 Makeup

Disclaimer: I have no idea what I am doing with makeup. I pretty much learned everything from being in theater, friends and YouTube!

I'm someone that finds beauty counters at department stores intimidating. So many products, so many colors and so many brands. And the prices have gotten out of control! I very rarely go to the store to buy makeup. Instead, I recently signed up for monthly beauty samples to be sent to my home. I never have to feel inferior about my lack of beauty knowledge. The Sephora Play Box and Macys Beauty Box gives me plenty of new products to try for both makeup and skin care. Plus they give me instructions on how to use it! And I never need to leave my house! These subscription boxes cost only $25 total a month.

 Eating healthy

I really have tried to do this but I'm sorry, shopping in the whole food section can be confusing also the fruit and veggies can go bad really fast.  Also, I'm not a great cook and just don't care to be in the kitchen all day making something healthy. Well this lazy girl has food that comes to her door. I get Hello fresh and Daily Harvest. Hello Fresh delivers Farm fresh food with simple recipes that take no more then 40 mins to make, prep included! Everything you need for the meal is in the bag. So there is no food waste and no supermarket searching. This food is delicious and you totally learn how to cook and try new things! My family just loves it!

Daily Harvest delivers pre-made smoothies to my door and they are not powders.  Instead, they're whole fruits, vegetables and nuts that come frozen in an 8 ounce cup.  Honestly, I tried to like the powders because I needed help losing the last of the baby weight. I just couldn't do it. I hated how gritty they are. Daily Harvest is a great alternative. All I have to do it add my almond milk and blend! It can't get any easier than that. They fill me up, they're good for me and most of all they taste good. I want to be healthy but I also love to eat.

 Workout.

The fastest way to workout and get all the heart healthy benefits.

Interval training cuts my workouts in half. I love doing this with running. The key is to get your heart rate up and then dropping it back down. This in turn burns more fat and strengthens muscles quicker than just normal jogging. On my treadmill at home there is actually a setting for this. You can do this at home and also at the gym. They key is fast intense movements followed by points of slower movement. For example, you can run in place as fast as you can for 30 seconds or a minute. Then you want to just walk in place. By doing this for 30 mins you will get all the benefits as is if you did an hour long work out.

Yoga strength training.  This can be done throughout the day and the poses work you out without all the sweat, time and stress on your joints and muscles. It improves your muscle strength and flexibility, perfect for someone with back or joint problems. You notice the results in the way you look but also in the way you feel. Plus, you will learn breathing methods that will help you in your everyday life so that you don't let those tense moments of the day get the best of you.  You just do a forward fold.

 Dress to Impress

Why buy when you can rent.

I rent my clothing, I always have something to wear and I'm always on the current fashion trends.  The best thing?  It comes right to my door.  I have monthly clothing rentals through Rent the runway and letote. If you are interested in learning more about the program, here's a link to my blog post where I talk about each these amazing programs. They always have new arrivals coming in! They have looks and styles to help inspire my looks. It's almost like I have my very own personal shopper and stylist. And there ain't no shame with my instagram game!

So go ahead and be Lazy Girl!  It will be our little secret. #getyourchictogether
