How to get that designer bag!

I am a lover of fashion but handbags and shoes are my weakness! Now I know some people don't understand the appeal of designers bags. I wanted to share with you, why I love them and how I'm  able to afford them. Also, to give some perspective to those that don't understand why we collect.



First the appeal of designer bag. I know some people think it is the showy factor. Look what I have and guess how much it set me back? To be completely honest most lovers of designer bags and collectors aren't purchasing to make them "look" a certain way. Most of us who own them don't show them off or talk about the items we have. We are secretly worried of the judgement on what we decided to spend are money on. There is a you-tuber I follow Eva in the City




This video is about how she use to say her bags were fake because of what she thought people would think. To be honest when I would first wear my bags out I was worried people were judging me too. But after awhile I realized that I bought them to wear them and that is what I need to do. When people complement them I say thank you and if they ask about them I tell them. The truth is we love designer bags because of the quality, style and value. Most of the designer bags such as Louis Vuitton are hand made and are designs that will stand the test of time. These bags are well made and will last a lifetime if they are properly cared for. (Don't worry their will be a blog post all about care very soon). When I carry my bag especially ,my limited edition Neverfull in the jungle dots print, I am carrying a piece of art. There is real beauty and appreciation for the brand when you own it. Also there is pride I have knowing I worked hard and saved the money to purchase. Each bag has a story behind it. Ask any collector and they will be able to tell you when, where and why with any bag in their collection.

Now the how. How can I afford a bag? It is just for the rich. This is just not true!! Now I will be completely honest that I did not start purchasing my collection until my student loans where paid off. I told myself that once I get these paid off I can have a Louis. That was a great motivational tool for me. You must always think long and hard before you make a major purchase. I also sold and purged items that I was no longer using. I use the platform Poshmark and Mercari to sell. I purchased most of my designer items on Fashionphile. Buying preloved will save you a ton! They also offer layaway for 60 days for no extra charge! I bought my speedy for 515 with layaway (these retail for over 1000 new) I was able to split my purchase into 3 payments of 171.67. Not having a student loan payment, this was easily affordable. Since my student loans cost me 500 a month! I know right! Your girl worked very hard for that degree and used it to get her money straight and her closet on fleek!
